Mark has served for over twelve years on the Livonia Public Schools Board of Education. Mark has passion and drive to continue to make Livonia Public Schools a place of excellence, in the face of declining revenues. He has worked diligently to preserve the programs that enhance the education experience for children of this district.
Mark has been honored and privileged to serve as both Board President and Vice Present several times during his time on the board. In his role he has emphasized the importance of team work, compromise, continuing education, and transparency which has resulted in a Board that, while not always agreeing on issues, respects each other and works well together. Every district policy has been reviewed, and the Code of Ethics, cited as exemplary by AdvancEd in the district accreditation process, has been adopted under his leadership. As a member of the Board, Mark has overseen not one, but two, successful bonds passed by our generous community, that have provided not only enhanced technology and security to the district’s facilities, the installation of air conditioning in our buildings, expansion of the Livonia Career Technical Center to include a state-of-the-art Robotics center but also the exciting soon to come Early Childhood Center, all to benefit the students, staff and community.
Mark’s Priorities include:
- Retaining and attracting highly qualified teachers and staff considering declining graduation rates for teachers.
- Providing mental and emotion support to our students resulting from two years of Covid restrictions.
- Continuing to maintain a strong financial position by aligning long and short-term goals to the district’s resources.
- Preserving and enhancing programs and academic offering for our students, including support for struggling learners and students with special needs.
